This course provides a practical introduction to Windows Driver Development using Rust, focusing on low-level kernel programming, process monitoring, and device driver communication. You’ll begin by setting up and writing your first “Hello World” kernel driver in Rust while understanding the fundamentals of Windows kernel architecture and driver execution.
The course then explores Process Creation Callbacks, demonstrating how drivers can monitor newly created processes inside the Windows kernel. You’ll also learn how to enumerate processes, threads, and loaded DLLs by walking kernel structures and analyzing the VAD tree.
In the second half of the course, you’ll build a basic software I/O driver from scratch. Topics include handling write operations, creating custom IOCTL communication interfaces, and establishing usermode-to-kernel communication mechanisms. Throughout the course, students will gain hands-on experience interacting with Windows kernel APIs, driver objects, and internal operating system structures using Rust.
Designed for beginners interested in Windows internals, malware development, EDR concepts, or defensive security tooling, this course combines theory with real-world coding demonstrations and reusable code snippets to help students build a strong foundation in modern Windows driver development with Rust.
